Chilly Curry

Chili curry is another popular dish in Andaman and Nicobar. This dish is also known as Hyderabadi Curry. This dish is very tasty, aromatic, and spicy. This dish is prepared by adding mild chilies, onions, hot sesame, almonds, tomatoes, and many good spices.
Chilly Curry

Ingredients

  • 6 big green chilies
  • 3 Boiled And peeled Tomato
  • 1 Chopped onion
  • 1tsp garam masala
  • 1/4tsp red chili powder
  • 2tbsp peanuts
  • 1/2tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2small boiled and peeled potatoes
  • 3/4tsp amchur power
  • 3tsp lemon juice
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • pinch of sugar
  • salt as per taste

Process of making Chilly Curry

  • Take the green chilies and slit them in the center. Then carefully deseed the green chilies.

To make the potato filling:

  • In a bowl, add the boiled and mashed potatoes, coriander leaves, salt to taste, red chili powder, and amchur powder (raw mango powder), and mix all these ingredients together using your hands. 
  • Your potato filling is ready.

To fill the chili

  • Fill the green chilies with the potato filling.
  • Stuff the chilies with the potato mash as much as possible.

To cook chilies

  • In a pan, add a little bit of oil and put it on flame.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the chilies to it.
  • Rotate the chilies in the pan and cook them till you get blisters on all sides of the chilies. 
  • Take the chilies out on a plate.

To make peanut paste

  • In a grinder, add the peanuts, garam masala, red chili powder, garlic paste, and ginger and grind them into a smooth paste.
  • Add water if required.

To make gravy

  • Take the same pan that you used for cooking the chilies and add some oil to it. 
  • Once the oil is hot, add sesame seeds, curry leaves, and finely chopped onions and cook them until the onions are brown. 
  • Add peanut paste.
  • Add tomato puree, mix it well with the other ingredients and cook it for 6-8 minutes. 
  • Add finely chopped green chilies and give it a nice stir. 
  • Add salt as per taste.
  • Cook gravy until the tomato puree dries.
  • Add water to the gravy.
  • Add leftover potato.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to the gravy.
